Program of engagement

The campaign's next steps

Publication of the policy paper and open letter begins a sustained program of engagement with the parliament and the medical profession. This page sets out that program, and NSWMSC will report its progress here as the campaign proceeds.

Step one

Meeting every member of parliament

NSWMSC will seek a meeting with every New South Wales state and federal member of parliament over the coming months, across government, opposition and crossbench. Every electorate has patients waiting longer for specialist care and doctors held in the training queue, and the Council will put the evidence to each member directly.

Step two

Partnering with the profession

NSWMSC is approaching partner organisations across medicine, including doctors' organisations, training bodies and groups representing doctors in training. The training bottleneck affects patients and the profession at every stage of the pipeline, and the Council's position is that reform is best advanced by the profession acting together.

Step three

Public accountability

NSWMSC will publish a register on this page of every parliamentary office and organisation it contacts, and of every meeting held. The register will record engagement and non-engagement on the same basis, so that members, signatories and the public can follow the campaign's progress and hold the Council to its commitments.

The engagement register

The register records every member of parliament and organisation NSWMSC contacts, the date of first contact and the current status. It will be updated as the campaign proceeds.
